Winback
Accelerate healing, relieve pain, and restore movement — from the inside out.
Winback TECAR — short for Transfer of Energy Capacitive and Resistive — is a high-frequency radiofrequency therapy that creates deep, endogenous heat inside the body's tissues. Used by elite sports teams, Johns Hopkins clinicians, and rehabilitation specialists worldwide, Winback delivers measurable results in a fraction of the sessions of traditional modalities.
Unlike treatments that work from the outside in, Winback works from the inside out. The 300kHz–1MHz current stimulates the body's natural electrical signals, increasing blood flow, activating cellular exchange, and triggering the same biological processes the body uses to heal itself — faster, and more completely.
Whether you're recovering from injury, managing chronic pain, training at a high level, or restoring pelvic and women's health function, Winback layers seamlessly with manual therapy and movement work — giving your therapist's hands an entirely new tool.
Capacitive and resistive radiofrequency — not surface-level heat.
| Approach | Effect on the body |
|---|---|
| Winback TECAR (CET + RET) | Endogenous heat & cellular repair |
| Ultrasound | Surface-level heating only |
| TENS / e-stim | Masks pain or contracts muscle |
| Manual therapy alone | Addresses tissue, no thermal effect |
What Winback does for your body.
Built around how you'll use Winback.
Whether you're rebuilding from injury, training for the next level, or managing long-term pain, we tailor the Winback protocol to your goals.
For patients recovering from injury, surgery, or orthopedic conditions. Winback's deep thermal effect accelerates tissue repair and restores mobility while your therapist works manually.
- Post-injury and post-surgical recovery
- Tendinopathy and joint stiffness
- Scar tissue and adhesion release
Used by elite athletes and professional sports organizations worldwide. Prepare tissues before training, accelerate recovery after, and reduce the downtime between hard sessions.
- Pre-event tissue preparation
- Post-training recovery and drainage
- Return-to-sport from injury
For clients living with long-standing pain — osteoarthritis, low-back pain, neck and shoulder tension — that hasn't responded to standard modalities. Pain relief without medication or side effects.
- Osteoarthritis and joint pain
- Chronic low-back and neck pain
- Long-standing muscle tension
Winback's gentle, pain-free application makes it uniquely suited to pelvic floor work, postpartum recovery, and scar tissue rehabilitation — trusted by pelvic health specialists at Johns Hopkins and beyond.
- Pelvic floor dysfunction
- Postpartum and C-section recovery
- Scar tissue mobility
A full suite of guided, hands-free treatments.
Care+ is Winback's signature innovation — pre-programmed protocols that deliver targeted radiofrequency treatment automatically through specialized electrodes. Lie back and let the device do the work. Each protocol is designed for a specific outcome, with no two sessions alike.
Winback is not used for clients with a cardiac pacemaker or insulin pump, during pregnancy, over active cancer in the treatment area, with active fever or thrombophlebitis, or over open growth plates in children. We screen for any other contraindications during your initial consultation.
What makes Winback different
Most physical therapy modalities work on the surface — ultrasound heats only the first few millimeters of tissue, TENS masks pain signals, and standard e-stim forces muscle contraction. Winback uses capacitive and resistive radiofrequency (300kHz–1MHz) to generate heat inside the tissue itself, reaching muscles, tendons, ligaments, and bone.
That deep, endogenous heat does something other modalities can't: it accelerates the body's own healing cascade. Many clinicians report cutting treatment timelines nearly in half — without losing the hands-on, manual approach. Winback amplifies the therapist's work; it doesn't replace it.
What to expect in a session
Sessions begin with a brief assessment so we can identify the structures driving your pain or limitation. Your therapist then applies the Winback handpiece directly to the area — or uses the bracelet electrodes for hands-free targeting — while continuing manual work simultaneously.
The sensation is unique — most clients describe it as a deep, comfortable warmth. It's never painful, and the intensity is always set to your tolerance. Sessions typically run 20 to 40 minutes depending on the area treated.
Who it's for
- Athletes preparing for competition or recovering after training
- Clients recovering from injury or surgery
- People managing chronic pain or osteoarthritis
- Clients with tendinopathy, scar tissue, or limited range of motion
- Women seeking pelvic floor or postpartum support
- Anyone looking for measurable progress without medication or downtime
Results & timeline
Many clients feel a meaningful shift in pain, warmth, or range of motion within the first session. For acute issues, 2 to 3 sessions often produce lasting relief. For chronic or post-surgical conditions, a series of 6 to 10 sessions — spaced 1 to 3 times per week — is typical.
We track progress with measurable markers: range-of-motion testing, strength benchmarks, and pain ratings — so you'll know exactly what's changing and why.
Capacitive vs. Resistive mode
Capacitive (CET) mode uses an insulated electrode to target soft tissues with higher water content — muscles, ligaments, and superficial structures. It's used for circulation, drainage, and muscle work.
Resistive (RET) mode uses an uninsulated electrode to drive energy deeper into dense, high-resistance structures — tendons, joints, and bone. It's used for chronic conditions, deep joint pain, and tendinopathy.
Your therapist alternates between both modes within a single session, matching the energy to the tissue being treated.
